About 《Lightspeed Rewind》

我一直對舊的音樂比較著迷，特別是70‘s 到 90’s 的電子音樂。在DAW 尚未誕生的那個年代，要完成一首作品，大概需要非人的知識、耐性及想像力吧？

《Lightspeed Rewind》是希望「回帶」到那刻：若我是當時的音樂人，會如何作業？這個mixtape除 Afterglow一貫的Synth Funk 外，更探索了如 House、Synth - Pop、J-Pop 甚至New Age 及 Library Music 等自己很喜愛的非主流類型。

事實上，經過大碟《Party Game》及《Free Soul Visions》等幾張單曲後，我希望探索更多不同的模式，不僅音樂風格，還有聽眾的聆聽模式。現今大家聽歌都被串流playlist所主導，因此最初我的意念，是假扮一個「80’s來歷不明的mixtape」，但朋友聽過後都說「聽得出全部都是你作的歌哦！」所以總括來說，這意念可算成敗參半。

After the two pop vocal singles, Free Soul Visions and Party Game (the former reached #3 on CR2 903 Foreign Chart in the summer of 2020) , I wanted to do something different for myself and the listeners.

Around the same time JohnWu, the artist who has been working on my releases ever since, asked me to provide some random music for his exhibition. So I put together few new songs and old jams into a 20 mins mix, this mixtape idea was born. My next challenge was to bring together more genres, creating a 60 mins faux playlist thing which would be perfect for a cassette.

I am always intrigued by how Boogie, New Age, City Pop, stuff like that were made with synthesizers between 70s to 90s. At that time you had to actually do hell of a lot arranging and sequencing (which I think is the most fun part of music making). Therefore as usual I did not sample any existing music here.

Wish this mixtape would rewind the time, bring you back to the abyss of synth music.
